Research results are increasingly influenced by the process of digitalization, both in terms of research methods and with regard to their communication in science and society. As part of the Leibniz ScienceCampus “Digital Transformation in Research” (DiTraRe), FIZ Karlsruhe and KIT are focusing on the “digital transformation” and analysing the interdisciplinary effects of growing digitalization in the scientific field in four research clusters. Specific solutions are being developed based on use cases from various disciplines. One example of this is the research cluster “Protected data spaces”, which deals with the use case “Sensitive data in sports science”. The other research clusters deal with intelligent data acquisition methods, for example in the area of “Smart laboratories in chemistry”, AI-based knowledge spaces such as in “Artificial intelligence in biomedical engineering”, as well as publication cultures in the publication of large amounts of data.
Leibniz ScienceCampi enable Leibniz institutions and universities to collaborate on specific topics within the framework of regional partnerships. Their aim is to establish networks in order to promote research areas and strengthen the scientific environment. These campuses conduct strategic research, promote interdisciplinarity in topics, projects and methods, contribute to the visibility of the respective location and strengthen its research profile.
The IMK is involved in DiTraRe as a “Publication of large data sets” use case.
