IMK/IAA MIPAS version 8 trace gas distributions available

Zonal monthly means for September 2009 calculated from MIPAS V8 IMK/IAA data. MIPAS version 8 data are considered superior over older versions because of a more stable calibration and because of numerous improvements in the level-2 processing.

The superiority of version 8 temperature data has already been demonstrated by Kiefer et al. (2021). Meanwhile, also trace gas distributions of O₃, H₂O, CH₄, CO, C₂H₆, N₂O, HNO₃, ClONO₂, N₂O₅, HNO₄, NO, NO₂, CFC-11, CFC-12, HCFC-22, CH₃Cl, ClO, COCl₂, and H₂SO₄ are available. Distributions of further trace gases are currently retrieved.
TUNER-compliant error analysis is under way.
